The Catalina Flying Boat. At anchor one night someone left the door open, a chop got up filling the plane with water and down it went. Hughie Green, the TV quizmaster for those who can remember that far back, was stationed here as a Catalina pilot
The present Hospital, named after Lady Margaret Chrighton Stuart, opened c1901. There was also St Andrew's Hospital within the grounds of the Cathedral, many war veterans were treated there. Spagnam Moss from Farland Point was often used as bandages.
Millport has very unique people - some quite strange too. The strangest I came across was a man who rejoiced in the name of Fern Andy. He lived in as a hermit in a cave near Fintry. On Ferry Road there is a yellow painted stone that bears his name on Ferry Road.
